The link below is to a Tribune article of 29th September. Local beauty queens are following through on their pledges to work to eliminate Child Sexual Abuse. They have been visiting local schools to sensitise the pupils to this scourge. Though not mentioned in this article Miss Teen Bahamas has also spoken out on this topic and supported the Crisis Centre at the September press conference to address the eradication of sexual violence

The Tribune of August 10th carried an article on page 1 and 10 referring to several rapes which have been reported in the Eastern District It appears that he is very cunning and a planner and seems to scope out his targets. He is also making every effort to remove or destroy any evidence of the rape at the scene.

This is a spophisticated and dangerous criminal. He appears to be very familiar with the area. Ladies, wherever you live be vigilant, be safe. If you see anything suspicious please ...

The article below appeared in The Tribune of Friday 7th August. Article is on the front page continued on page 12 It describes how two ladies were subjected to threats and intimidation by a group of men while they were on a local beach. We must remember that it is not necessarily the severity of abuse but the perceived danger and helplessness experienced by victims which is so traumatising

These links to The Tribune on line report on the recent trial of a Bahamian lady charged with the death of her partner. The story is on page 1 and page 13 of the July 2nd 2009 issue. Again another very tragic outcome of a domestic situation. Coincidentally there is another tragic story on the same pages, that of a man who having been placed on bail for rape is now facing charges of a second similar offense, this time being remanded in custody to H.M.P.

Yes it happens overseas too. The message here is that such tragedies can happen even when Social Services and profesionals are aware of a child being at risk and are actively monitoring a situation. More reason for us all to be involvesd and be aware

On Wednesday 17th June The Tribune gave prominence to the story of the email presently circulating The Bahamas which carries a video attachment showing the sexual abuse of a preschool female child by an adult male. The Crisis Centre has been reliably informed that the Royal Bahamas Police Force are aware of this email and are actively investigating. They have also informed that the transmission, sharing or forwarding of this email by anyone could be considered a crime, ie the distribution of ...
