Corporal Punishment

In the Caribbean, people often say they have to beat their children to discipline them. Many older people say" Well, look at me, I used to get beat every day and it never did me any harm!" But research has shown that people beaten often and severely as children grow into angry adults. They often become violent, either in the community or in their homes, with their spouses and children. I feel there are better ways to discipline, which will not cause the hurt, pain and anger that beating can produce. What do you think?
