A nurse accused of setting a fire that caused $160,000 in damage to an ex-boyfriend's home, made her initial appearance before a magistrate yesterday.
Catherine Turnquest, 47, of 309 Jamaica Avenue, Elizabeth Estates, is accused of burning Inspector Norman Bain's home on St. Kitt's Road, Sunshine Park, on October 12.
Turnquest was not required to enter a plea to the charge of arson of a dwelling house when she was arraigned before Magistrate Derence Rolle-Davis. Her bail has been set at $10,000 and a preliminary inquiry is scheduled to begin on January 20, 2010. Turnquest was represented by Clarita Lockhart.
Also appearing in the same court was Clifford Storr, who is accused of having sex with a 14-year-old girl. Storr, 24, of Tiger Drive, Foxdale, is charged with sexual intercourse with a person between 14 and 16. He was not required to enter a plea to the charge. A preliminary inquiry is set to begin on January 13.
Sergeant Godfrey Brennen was the prosecutor.
